In 2009, the PPA began offering scholarships to college-bound seniors and college students. There are annually four $500 scholarships awarded. One is a general scholarship for which any student may apply, one is for any student wishing to attend a Law Enforcement or Fire Academy, and two are for students who are children of PPA members, the Green Rye Memorial Scholarship and the Wes Hardy Memorial Scholarship, in memory of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. In the event there is no Law Enforcement/Fire Academy application, the Board of Directors will vote to add this to the general or member only categories (depending on number of applicants) in order to ensure all four scholarships are awarded each year.
